Fifty words about The Grocery from people who are not SideMartians, I’m sure hold more weight than anything we can say about it ourselves.

To that end, may we present:

The Grocery’s Customer Satisfaction Page

Chris Stanton, Artistic Director, ARC

When ARC first decided to produce Deirdre Kinahan’s Moment, we knew we wanted a venue that was intimate, flexible, and slightly outside the box in terms of rental spaces. The instant we walked into Sidemart’s Theatrical Grocery, it was clear: this was the perfect fit. Our experience with Andrew Shaver and The Grocery has been nothing but positive. He’s created a space that is warm and welcoming and incredibly versatile. And the venue truly became a significant (if silent) character in the production. I’m convinced that Moment would not have been the hit it was if it hadn’t been staged at Sidemart’s Theatrical Grocery.

Eric Goldstein, General Manager & Producer, Crow’s Theatre

SideMart’s Theatrical Grocery in Leslieville is a versatile and atmospheric space that works well for shows, rehearsals, auditions, workshops or even as a hip event space. Andrew Shaver is accommodating and he makes using the space a pleasure. Crow’s Theatre has used the space many times and we will definitely be back there soon!

Eric Johnson, star of Cinemax’s The Knick

An intimate venue that perfectly suited our needs for Love Letters. SideMart couldn’t have been more accommodating!

Lisa Hamalainen and Joanne Wil‎liams, Spiel Players

The Grocery is an East End gem – rustic and timeless in character, it is an open gallery space that you can transform to create your world. We loved the Grocery’s surrounding neighbourhood, Andrew’s open-minded attitude toward what we could do, and the chance to present a theatrical experience that really interacted with the qualities of its environment.
Viktor Lukawski, Artistic Director ZOU Theatre

Fifty words about SideMart’s Theatrical Grocery? I’ll give ya two: bleeping awesome. I hope you bold those words. My company, ZOU, spent several weeks there developing our last show, Business As Usual. The space has character and can morph into whatever you like. It was perfect for us and influenced the show in a very positive way. We even filmed a little trailer in there. Andrew Shaver has provided a versatile rehearsal/performance space for us artists, and on top of it all, he’s incredibly helpful and supportive. To be honest, don’t post anything I have written. I kind of want this space to be our little secret.
