SideMart’s daring and innovation don’t stop. MONTREAL GAZETTE

SIDEMART THEATRICAL GROCERY was, at one time, English Montreal’s best theatrical softball team. And while we have a collection of Montreal Theatre Awards numbering somewhere north of 14, it’s really the slow pitch trophy above that sets us apart.

Now, we pleasantly bounce up and down and back forth between Montreal and Toronto.

It’s likely worth noting that our shift in focus from Montreal to Toronto caused a massive subsequent shift in our branding when we went from SIDEMART to SIDEMARTTake a moment to soak that one in.

Here’s a short list of some interesting theatre things we’ve done over the past few years:

The world premiere of Pulitzer Prize Award-winning John Patrick Shanley’s A WOMAN IS A SECRET.

The English Language Canadian premiere of Ivan Viripaev’s existential comedy ILLUSIONS.

The world premiere of SHERLOCK HOLMES starring JAY BARUCHEL at the Segal Centre.

The world premiere of Morris Panych’s GORDON.

The world premiere of HAUNTED HILLBILLY, a musical based on Derek McCormack’s novel of the same name with music by MATTHEW BARBER.

The Canadian premiere of  Mark Doherty’s hit TRAD.

The world’s funniest jazz comedy extravaganza THE DICK POWELL SHOW starring the incomparable GRAHAM CUTHBERTSON.

The world premiere of songplay OUT OF THE WOODS with Amy Rutherford and JUSTIN RUTLEDGE

Our Artistic Director Andrew Shaver, recently directed the smash hit smash hit production of GREASE, en francais, for Juste Pour Rire in Montreal. In 3 summers it has sold over 100,000 tickets. In 2018, Shaver will direct the world French Language Premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical ONCE for Just For Laughs.

Here are 3 VERY SERIOUS videos made during our time rehearsing John Mighton’s Scientific Americans.
